Bird of Prey Experiences

Here at Galloway Falconry we pride ourselves on our hands on falconry experiences. We are the only fully qualified falconry team in South West Scotland, whilst other companies might have a qualified instructor, all of our course leaders are assessors and hold the Lantra falconry award, and all our volunteers have achieved the award.

When you arrive at Galloway Falconry you are  introduced to all of the birds that we have at the centre. We then start the experience by getting you to hold and fly one of our owls, then progressing to a hawk, flying the hawk free in the fields, where it will follow on (just like taking your dog for a walk!). Then depending on the length of the experience we would then progress to teaching you to fly a falcon and then culminate the day with flying our White-tailed Sea Eagle with an eight foot wingspan!

This is all hands on, you yourself are a falconer for the day, with the instructor being there to guide, keeping you and  the bird safe throughout the experience. We are in the fortunate position to be in the middle of the stunning Galloway Hills with 500 acres of flying ground, our nearest neighbours are a farm a mile away! As we are so remote please make sure you bring stout foot wear and warm, waterproof clothes.
